Today we’d like you to meet Gezil Andrews, one of our SCORE counselors in Asheville. Here is what Gezil has to share about why she volunteers and what skills she brings to the table for local clients.
Q. What are your areas of business expertise?
A.I specialize and have expertise in the following areas:
- sales management
I have also been recognized for Volunteer Leadership and Mentoring.
Q. Have you owned your own business?
A. Yes, I was self-employed in the insurance business for over 10 years. I rented space in a Real Estate office or worked in my home while I built my business.
Q. Over the course of your career path what has been your #1 strength? What personality trait, skill, or ability was integral to your professional success?
A. My #1 strength is persistence in direct sales and the ability to think strategically. My #2 best quality if my strong communication skills, life long learning and the willingness to help others succeed has been integral to my professional success.
Q. Why do you volunteer for SCORE?
A. I want to put my 30+ years of business experience to work to help others succeed.
Q. If you could give a new or existing business owner one piece of advice what would it be?
A. Put your plans, hopes and dreams down in writing – this helps solidify your thinking on what is really possible.
Q. What is one of your favorite things to do or places to go in Asheville?
A. I love to enjoy a great cup of coffee and to attend a variety of cultural events.
